In my line of work I often get asked to find the "cheap" equivalent of something a friend desperately wants but can't afford. They always come to me because they know I have the resources to find the very best and cheapest! There's nothing wrong with splurging on clothing or accessory items that we're just dying to have, but when we're experimenting with new styles, why not save some cash?

I absolutely love getting challenged with the hardest items to procure and to then find the almost exact same piece but for fractions of the cost! Here I've done it again but with pieces that are "In" for now, but may not be next year! I also made it extra useful for this tanking economy but sticking to an under $30 budget.

We're in a Recession?!

Hey yall!

I KNOW the recession has been hitting us fashionistas hard. So we have been completely dedicated

to carrying more affordable labels and designers in our store.

One of my favorite things to do in the world, is to take "my cheaps" (cheap-ly priced clothing/accessories) and make a fabulous outfit that looks like a million bucks. Devious huh?

Here are some recession tips I always utilize, to help me through:

1. Don't splurge on trendy items. What I mean is, hammer pants, clogs and glitter accessories all are trendy items which have the distinct possibility of being very "out" in a few months. With uber-trendy clothing pieces, get the stuff for really cheap!

2. Spurge on classics. If you're looking for that lifetime LBD (little black dress) or a classic trench, INVEST. I mean you don't want your super special item to fall apart after 2 washes.

3. Consider your wardrobe. When buying something new, consider what else it could go with in your current wardrobe. That way, you can string out multiple uses!

4. Throw a swap party. Swap clothes you're sick of with your friends! That way, your wardrobe will always feel brand new!

We're LOVIN' Patterned Tights!

My current favorite fashion trend for fall are patterned and textured tights. You can't survive this fashion season without em! They enable you to incorporate the sexiest and best parts of your summer wardrobe into fall. Think of the mini skirts, flouncy dresses and chic shorts you'll be able to wear with some gorgeous tights.

Whether they're multi-colored, floral, lace, leather or even animal-printed, tights are a MUST! I love how tights can automatically dress up an outfit or pull an outfit together; and with patterns or textures, it gives even more depth to an outfit.

How I'm wearing them:

Lately I've been pairing mine (lace & floral) with stud booties, neutral shift dresses and jewel-toned cardigans.

Any fashionista who is anyone knows that a well-tailored blazer is a Must for all fashion gals' wardrobes living anywhere; however, for fall 2010, the blazers are getting smaller!
Shrunken blazers take the office-bore out of normal work blazers and look way more fashion-forward.
Lately, channeling Kim Kardashian (in a way), I've been a bit blazer-obsessed myself and now own 8 different kinds of shrunken blazers!
Here are some blazer-shopping ideas to get you started!

VELVET: Velvet blazers are amazing! Go a little risque and get a nice rich olive or purple-colored one. It'll look amazing going out at night, while still looking put-together and staying warm.

CLASSIC: Do a simple, classic blazer for running around town. You'll look like a fashion-goddess without any effort at all. Throw on some jeans to make is extra casual.

SATIN: A satin blazer looks great paired with shorts for a night out. After all, Fall for many states, is still pretty warm. It'll dress up any ole' outfit thrown together.

LEATHER: This one is difficult but gorgeous. Warm chesnut and mocha colors will scream Fall. Even better, you can wear this one with boots and delicate tops and make your very own Fall statement!

Pirate Femme?!

Yes, it sounds a bit kooky but Pirate Femme is my latest fashion craze! I'm loving anything and everything pirate but with a feminine twist.
Here are some of *my* favorite ways to sport the look:

-Dark skull top with a super frilly skirt
-A wristlet in the shape of pirate loot!
-Black pants with cross-bone prints and a floaty chiffon top
-Shoes with gold studded pirate booty all over the heels
-Skull & Crossbones jewelry

Brilliant Fashion Trend: Faking It

Even for us fashion-savvy chicas, there are days when we are completely out of brilliant fashion ideas and stand in front of our closets thinking "I have nothing to wear!" Given that, I'm sure you've had these days too. One fantastic way of eliminating these annoying situations from you busy mornings is having set "go-to" pieces in your closet you already know "go-well together" or "always looks fab".

The easiest way of doing this, is picking out easy tops and t-shirts that are *a bit special*. You don't want your go-to easy outfit to be a plain jane t-shirt. Fake It by wearing jazzed up t-shirts are just one brilliant way. Look for screen printed designs (like above). The top is a grand entrance piece, with the illusion of a draping scarf. Other embellishments to look for are glitter, beads, ruffles, cut-outs, sequins, feathers or chains. These simple additions can completely *make* your outfit, and without the hassle!

How to Wear Delicate Lace

Incorporate Lace into Your Wardrobe

One of the most common questions I get asked is: "How can I wear something fancy/lacy/delicate in my everyday-to-day style?"

Even I can see how this could be a toughie; after all how do you wear a ball gown running around town and at work?

So here I break it down with some style guidelines using "lace" as an example to help you incorporate something fancy into your everyday outfits:

Running Errands: While getting dressed, you know you're going around town running errands, but you still want to look your best, so what do you wear? If you want to wear some very fancy lace, you need to keep your other pieces muted. Choose a rougher cut jacket like an aviator or motorcycle one in a neutral color, a pair of casual shorts and some flats. Go easy on the overall color scheme and go minimal on the jewelry.

Work: Wearing lace to work is easier than you think. You can wear your lace top under a business jacket or blazer and wear some neutral and straight-lined slacks. Don't be afraid of revealing a little bit of femininity at the workplace. Keep your shoes business appropriate (closed-toe) and remember, one frilly detail per outfit!

School/Class: You don't want to be dressed over-the-top sitting in class but you really want to wear your new top. Dress the lace down by pairing it with a pair of light denim. (light is really key here because dark signifies "evening wear".) You can add super casual pieces such as a neutral belt, simple jewelry and flats.

PTA: You want to look clean, put-together and still stylish right? Wear a nice pair of jeans or slacks and top it off with a modern 3/4 sleeve cardigan. It will add enough structure but keep the look fresh. The most important thing though... is keep your hair put-together and elegant looking. Do a simple, fresh ponytail or chignon. Either way, for a clean look with lace, keep your hair up!

Take Your Summer Into Fall!

One of the most fabulous ways to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank is buying transition pieces. Transition pieces are beautiful items of clothing than can "transition" from season to season, occasion to occasion and even from day to night!

One of my personal favorite transition pieces are rompers. Yes, they are a fabulous staple for a trendy Summer wardrobe, but you can make them work for many other looks as well!

Here we give you an example with the rompers shown above:

Fall: For autumn, pair the rompers with some light textured tights, bright or studded flats and a super saturated color cardigan. It would completely transition your look from summer to fall.

Winter: For winter, you could wear them with thicker, patterned leggings, tall leather boots, a cashmere turtleneck and a wool (and warm) winter coat.

Day to Night: Yes, wearing the rompers just by itself is indeed for the daytime. However, you can bring them easily into night! Simply choose some flashier heels, add a medium-thickness structured belt, and a big statement necklace that sits just at the collar of the rompers. Voila, you're ready for girls night out!

Picnic to Gala: Lets say you're wearing rompers to drive around town, running errands but you want to wear this for an event. Simply find a volumnous skirt in a very rich texture and color (ex. purple satin, red chiffon etc) and wear it over the "shorts" of the rompers. The ruffled top mixed with the foofy bottom will look edgy and beautiful. And of course, accessorize!

Korean Fashion Trend: Micro-Pleated Dress

The newest fashion trend I've noticed on the "scene" are these fantastic throwback dresses. Don't act like you don't remember your mom's woolen, super pleated, plaid skirts! This outdated look has been completely transformed into the cutest and chicest fashion trend of 2010!

I am a huge fan of these gorgeous soft chiffon dresses that have super slim pleats all-over the dress. Its especially great because its noticable, but so subtle too. Designers are going super bold with the colors but remaining very elegant and clean with the cuts. I love the dress above (see pic) because it has great sleeves that fold down. The white also makes this dress super easy to accessorize!

Search for the Perfect Swimsuit Continues!

As some of you may or may not know, I started out on my 'amazing swimwear' search over a month ago, in search of the most fashion-forward, crazy and unique swimsuit I could find to wear for this coming beach season.
In my search I found so many absolutely stunning bathing suits that I couldn't just limit it to one hub! This is Part Deux of my search for the most magnifique swimsuit of all time! Enjoy the suits and more importantly, if in search of an amazing swimsuit to wear under the sun, you're in luck, since I've done all the hard work for you!
Also in this hub is where I reveal which bathingsuit I ended up choosing for this season's beach outings. (And it may be more than just one!)

Search for the Perfect Swimsuit

I started out on this month long journey of trying to find the most amazing swimsuit when I realized that I could turn my search into a hub! I ran across dozens, heck hundreds of such amazingly gorgeous bathingsuits that I just had to share!
Now, as a 'fashion-forward' (or so I'd like to think) woman, I know when I head out to the beaches this spring/summer, I need to wear something unique, beautiful and most of all, AMAZING! This is whats expected of me from all my friends/followers/buyers; perhaps because they know my obsession with fashion. I read tons of magazines every week, follow multiple fashion blogs, writings, articles, subscribe to fashion newspapers, online fashion shows and even obsessively watch fashion tv; ergo, I live, eat and breathe fashion! Knowing all this, I was determined to find the perfect bathing suit.
Now that my search is complete and I am ready to leave behind snowstorms and frostbite, I'd love to show you the world's most amazing swimsuits of this year!

This multi-colored, multi-faceted, multi-everything swimsuit just reels the mind. At least mine, that is. Its amazing crafted, beautiful and everything a fashion girl could want! Who could create such a thing? Apparently, an Israeli. This company started back in the 1950's in Israel! Today, it is adored and worn by many American celebrities for their vacations in St. Tropez amongst other places.

While browsing through and you discover you have been or still are a victim of one or more of these fashion DO NOTS, don't be offended! These mistakes can happen to all good people, even for self-proclaimed fashionistas (#2*Cough Cough). Besides, you can always discard your fashion offenders and pretend it all never happened after this day.

Read the tips, so you can be fabulous at your next event!
A Week Before
Drink Up: Drink lots of water starting from a week prior to the event. Drinking at least 8 glasses a day will revitalize and rejuvenate your body before party night.
Break a Sweat: Try to get in a bit of exercise to loosen up the body and relieve any tension or stress. If you have no time to hit the gym, try some quick exercises at home.
Say No to Salt: Try and avoid overly salty foods on days leading up to the event. Salt causes bloating, water retention which is just plain uncomfortable.
The Night Before
Catch Some Zzzz's: You definitely want to look alive during your party, so get some major rest! Go to bed a little earlier than your usual bedtime. If you didn't get enough sleep, try cucumbers or an eye serum to reduce dark circles or puffiness and use an eye-brightener on your eyes.
The Day Of
Soak Up: Take a nice, hot, relaxing bath before getting ready. It will hydrate the body and relieve tension possibly caused by work or a face-paced environment.
Eat: Grab a decent bite to eat before going out to drink. It will keep you in control of the drinks, and likely, you'll drink less! Plus it reduces the chances of you being sick (i.e. your head in a public toilet) at the end of the night.
Right Before
Glow: Give yourself a nice glow with a shimmer lotion. It'll highlight your skin tone and make your skin look amazing. Avoid tanning too close to the party date, since there is a chance the tan might look strange or too strong.
Shape-wear: For whatever type of dress you may be wearing, wear the proper undergarments. If the dress is a real curve-hugger or clingy, why not try shape-wear which will flatten and instantly tone the body.
Nails: Try a festive nail color to stand out.
Makeup: Choose a focus, whether it be the eyes, cheeks or lips and accentuate only that with a bold color or dramatic touches. For the rest of the face, try and keep it somewhat neutral for an overall put-together and classy look.
Perfume: Do not go overboard on the scent. Go really bold on the fragrance, and try something new and unexpected; the exotic smell will be enticing and make you the life of the party!

Throw a Fondue Party!

Tired of dressing to the nines to go out every weekend to the bars? Try a fun girls' night in with a Fondue Party! It's simple to set-up and host, and will be a blast for you and all the girls. After all, we all need a break from out 4 inch heels in cold weather from time to time...
Food: I would recommend doing a cheese and chocolate fondue just to introduce some variety. For the cheese, you can dip crackers, little square meats, shrimp and vegetables. For the chocolate dip, you can have marshmallows, pretzels, pineapple, bananas, apple slices, strawberries and much more. Get as creative as you'd like and remember enough dipping sticks for all your girls!
Drinks: Go festive with drinks. For guests over 21, alcohol is always a treat. Really make it a girl's night with girly drinks such as Bahama Mammas, Apple-tinis, Mojitos, Mai Tais or any fun cocktails. For those under 21, still have fun, festive drinks but 'virginize' them, aka remove the alcohol.
Outfit: I recommend something casual but fun. Don't wear anything uncomfortable at your own event, especially since it is likely you will get chocolate and cheese on your clothes! Go festive and bold. After all, you're the host!
Music/Movies: I feel it is equally fun either playing a girly movie or playing festive music. It is a girl's night in, so choose one or both: gossiping and laughing at romantic movies or dancing your hearts out to fun music!
Décor: Although it's a casual event, any get-together is better with ambiance. Create fun fondue-themed invites. Make the place cozy with a blankets and pillows set-up on the living room floor with dimmed lights. With the fondues, make it 'buffet' style where everyone can get creative with their own fondue creations.
Party Favors: Make the event truly memorable by giving out awesome party favors. Bring out disposable cameras or a digital camera during the event and let everyone take silly or cute pictures throughout the night. Once the photos are developed, either in store or on your computer, put them into frames and hand them out!
